Two veterans. Two wars. Same invisible fight. Tommo Williams is an Australian Afghanistan veteran who fought in one of the most intense engagements of the war — the second-largest battle involving Australian forces. Enemy fighters were close enough to throw grenades by hand. An emergency ammunition resupply was required — the first of its kind since Vietnam. After the war, Tommo spiralled. Severe PTSD. 13 admissions to psychiatric wards. Drug addiction. Reliving the fight over and over again. SGT Wardawg (name kept private by choice) is a United States Marine Corps veteran with three tours of Iraq: The initial push across the border into Iraq Seizing Saddam Hussein’s palace and pulling down his statue Two deployments to Fallujah — including the first major battle and later stability operations The war didn’t end when he came home. Multiple psych ward admissions. PTSD. Survival became the next mission. Together, Tommo and Wardawg host SGT Wardawg TV, calling themselves “The Psych Ward Gang” — a dark-humoured but brutally honest look at life after combat. Wardawg also runs outdoor therapy programs for veterans in Florida, using camping, hunting, and military-adjacent activities to reconnect men with purpose, structure, and each other. This conversation isn’t motivational. It’s not polished. It’s real. If you’re a veteran, a family member, or someone who wants to understand what war actually leaves behind — this episode matters.
